Cher Dishes On Love Life With Boyfriend Alexander “A.E.” Edwards

For the past year, Cher has been dating a younger man, Alexander "A.E." Edwards. He's tall, talented, and a brotha with an iced-out grill who she is in love with. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the legendary singer opened up on why she adores him so much and why she is making the most of their storied romance.
The internet has gone wild since their first public outing together in November 2022. Still, Cher is "not surprised" by reactions to their 40-year-age gap. She is 77, and he is 37.
“Alexander’s got diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair, and he’s way younger. He’s a beautiful man,” she told the outlet.
Their love story dates back to October 2022 at Paris Fashion Week, when they met "for about 15 minutes." Then, a mutual friend gave Edwards her number, a decision the music mogul said left her dismayed. "It was really shocking because people just don't give out my number."

The “Believe” hitmaker admitted that she let her guard down for the producer “because he’s just so special.”
“I hate when people say people are special, but lots of people say I’m special, so I can say that he’s special," she explained. "No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun. What I learned is that it’s never too late. If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed.’ But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time.”
During their whirlwind romance, they have also linked musically. Edwards produced her new single, "Drop Top Sleigh Ride," on her first holiday album, "Christmas," out October 20.
"He's a great producer," Cher said. "I let him do 'Drop Top Sleigh.' That's a hard thing to do when you are in love with someone and then you say, 'OK, here, take this record and do what you want with it.' But I had faith. And I was so thrilled."
