I was looking at the show, and talking to my boyfriend and the whole thing is laughable....the question that I keep asking myself is what makes a man a man and what makes a woman a woman? U cant blame a man for what turns him on; for instance if a artist is turn on by a thick curvy woman and he chooses to put that in his videos what so wrong with that? Men are not the only ones who objectfies women; women ojbectfy themselve( lesbians and bisexuals) women also objectfy men....We women oogle men like Tyson Beckford, Tyrese, Nelly, Ludacris, etc....so what makes what we do any less wrong than what men do? Females set here tripping b/c men have women dressed in less than nothing but look at the female rap artists, Kiha ( my neck my back), Little Kim(how many licks, and at the awards show where she was wearing a purple pastey) Janet Jackson( her plenty of videos where she is making soft core porn) u dont see or hear many ppl calling them out......
What I took from the show was that ppl are trying to punish men for a natural behavior; and give women a get out of jail free card.
As for morals and self esteem whos job is it to teach youth this? Logically one would think that it is the job of the parents.....I was reading some of the various posts and some made complete sense where as others were stupid.....I dont think that flavor of love or rock of love along with a shot at love(tila tequlia) were degrading......the ppl choose to go on this show not knowing what to expect; and if you look at it this goes on in everyday life with men and women the only difference is that its not advertised for the world to see.....those women on Flavor of love didnt do anything that they dont do in real life......Boots likes to shake her butt so if she did it on tv what makes u think that she dont do it in her own life? so with that being said how is it degrading? you would think that with the name of the show being Hip Hop vs America they would have more diverse panel of hip hop artist.....Eminem is a artist and his songe are talking abt his mom, him wanting to kill his baby mother, popping pills( the song purple pills), talking abt how he cant be a womans superman, etc.....or Ludacris......he makes postivie songs yet no one is willing to give him credit for that you want to bash him for his song Pu**y popping..... or Nelly but all u want to do is come down on him for the song Tip drill..... we all know those songs come on at 2/3 in the morning; so what is ur child doing up at that time and those songs were not played on the radio.....strippers have been around from day one, what makes what they do any less degrading than the video girls? ups and downs in relationships, men not respecting women, men wanting to be with the more sexual woman(eye candy), men not being there for their kids....and with that issue alone u dont know why the men are not there but ppl are quick to either believe the woman or call them dead beat dads.....Look at the Maury show women be on there claiming they are 100% sure he is the dad and when the men come out the audiance boos him and calls him lazy and when it turns out he isnt the father u quick to jump on his side but nothing happens to the women....has anyone ever thought that the reason for them not being there could be b/c they dont know abt the child, the woman is saying that it isnt his, or the woman want the men to be with them and if not they cant see the child...The fact of the matter is that these problems were around long before hip hop was as big as it is now......and just b/c hip hop became more popular dont mean that its the cause of a problem that has been around for sometime.....If u choose to imulate someone or something its b/c u agree with what they are doing and u are just like them.....

Re: Who is to blame?
SHOUT OUT TO U MARIE25 ON A GOOD POINT. TO ME, THE PANEL DIDNT ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING. TO MUCH YELLING GOING ON. THIS IS HOW I THINK THE PANEL SHOULD HAVE WENT. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 3 PARTS, THE VERY FIRST PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ALL FEMALE PANEL. THEY SHOULD BE THE ONES ASKING ?UESTIONS TO THEMSELVES. ASK THEM Y THEY MAKE THE SONGS THEY MAKE. I BET MOST OF THEM WILL SAY THE SAME THANG THE MEN SAY. BUT DO ANYBODY REMEMBER WHEN LAUREN HILL SOLD 5 MILLION UNITS AND NEVER TOOK OFF HER CLOTHES. STOP USING UR *** TO HIDE U NOT HAVING TALENT. THEY NEED TO WORK IT OUT AMONGST THEMSELVES FIRST. THEN COME BACK WITH THE ALL MALE PANEL, LET THEM WORK IT OUT AMONGST THEMSELVES AS WELL. ASK THEM Y THEY MAKE THE P-SSY POPPING AND WHATEVER. GET SOME RAPPERS THAT MAKE THESE SONGS. MUCH LOVE TO TALIB, BUT HE DONT MAKE THOSE SONGS, SO HE SHOULD NOT BE ON THE PANEL. AND %90 OF THE SONGS THAT DOWN WOMEN ARE MADE FROM RAPPERS WITH NO TALENT THAT TRYING TO GET ON. PUT THOSE TYPE OF RAPPERS ON THERE. THEN BRING BACK EVERYBODY TOGETHER AND WORK IT OUT. THE WHOLE PANEL NEEDS TO WEAR MICS THAT SOMEBODY CAN CUT UR MIC OFF WHEN U REFUSE TO LET ANYBODY ELSE SPEAK. GET SOMEBODY WHO CAN HOST THE SHOW AND KEEP ORDER. A FAIR HOST.

Re: Who is to blame?
i agree with marie25....how can u blame a genre of music for people's behaviour?...that doesn't make any sense to me ....why does someone have to take the blame any way? hip-hop is a lifestyle....on hip-hop vs. america the only point i see is that in which is relative to sex and video vixens....and so what...they don't see nothing wrong with these rockstars tearing up they *73* on stage and all that other unnecessary bull...they should be glad that these rappers finding away to vent there frustrations through music instead actually doing what there talking about.
i really dont blame them.. they doing what they know and what they know there fans want to hear and their eating...can't nobody hate on that....as long as they not hurting nobody in the process

I get the feeling that the uppity blacks are expecting these rappers to be more mild mannered, subtle, or calm.... come on now that is obserd...... U want rappers like T.I., Little Flip, Jeezy, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Trina, Little Kim, and etc to calm down? the truth of the matter is that young black ppl can relate to these rapper and whether u want to believe it or not these rappers are showing your child that they dont always have to take the same route in life that they did.....take 50 cent for example yes he was slanging and he turned his life around after getting shot, now he is a business man and a great one at that, not to mention that he once said that it isnt worth it to sell dope b/c in the end ur only making min. wadge....... and what abt Jay Z? look at him, he also is showing that you can find another road in life......... they were talking abt the Bill Cosby show, and Different World.....one thing u must ask ur self is are the characters on that show really portaying actual ppl? the ppl on that show had mothers and fathers, who were somewhat wealthy, and didnt live in the hood; so my question is How do u expect a person who grew up with one parent living in the hood to relate to that show?they cant just like you nor I can relat to why it is that some of the ppl in this world do the things that they do......another person who responded to my comments said that its abt money and I have to disagree with that.......we all know that society dont place the same expectations on other entertainers as we do our own.......Look at Tatum O'Neal I havent heard the media come down on her for her recent arrest for cocaine and crack......or what abt Kid Rock who got into a fight with Tommy Lee, or what abt Mathew Machaunghey who had the police called to his house......I know that this isnt something that should be made into a racial issue but BET chooses to do it and for what reason a logial person will never know but I do know that we are all humans who at some point do some stupid things.......I think that the problem becomes worse when we the ppl choose to say how come u dont act like this or be more responsible, or how come u cant get ur money and dawn a suite and tie.....just like college not everyone is bound for it so not everyone is going to change we cant get mad at these artists for being themselves....T.I. was doing dirt before he got into the rap game so was Jeezy, The Game, and a lot of these other artist that youth today idolize.......but in the end it is up to you as the parent or gaurdian of the child to teach them morals, responsibility, and helpthem develop their self esteem.....so for anyone who says that this isnt abt responsibilities oand morals then u need to look at ur child and ur parenting skills........

Re: Who is to blame?
I think that some that were on the panel where just not really listening to the questions that where being asked they were just talking which was upsetting because WHO's TO BLAME? to me an artist is NOT to blame at all that is their "job" so they going to do what the feel and put out what sells that how they make their money we can't knock somebody for doing that but what we do do is present to your children what reality and what's false you can't count on TV and music to do that for that's just not right. Children will be influenced by a lot of things: peers, TV, and music but it still falls back on the parent to inform their child about what's going on I don't believe that anyone outside of the family besides teachers should impact our children and then sometimes you even have to correct what the teacher has taught or said to them.

I think that we all need to stop playing the blame game....we need to stop blaming the media as the villian when hip hop artist play into these roles as well. I need people to stop giving into that whole "its what the public wants so imma give it to them" mentality because everyone has the right to say NO and thats the thing...nobody is. I feel like we as people need to stop puttin ourselves as well as our own down and learn to build each other up. The world is laughing at us because we are destroying our communities and there seems to be no end in sight. And these rapping downplaying women, majority were raised by women yet they continue to degrade famales, i believe if you wouldnt want it done to you sister, mother, or daughter...you shouldnt do it to somebody else's. And in my opinion, we need to stop blaming music for violence today because in the end most people will say "well where was so and so's parent when this happned?" If you child is up late watching what you dont approve then thats a problem for the parent to solve, if a child is listening to music the parent doesnt like then that is a problem for the parent to solve. Everybody is forgetting family values and leaving the tv to raise their children and its not right to place to blame on everybody but yourself for the way your family turned out. And for the "Video Vixens" nobody makes them put on those clothes, they do it themselves if all of these women would stand together and say "No im wearing that" there would be no video. Women in this industry have more power than they realize they just dont know it yet.

Some things u said I agree with, others I question; u said that the rappers play into this role of blaming the media...I havent heard any artist on that show blame the media ,I heard the media blame artist......you say that we need to stop tearing our own kind down yet thats what we are doing with these HIP HOP VS AMERICA Shows.......each time a rapper points out that its not their responsibility to raise ur child or teach them morals we the community gets pissed.......I dont think ppl are laughing at us for the reasons that you think they are...its more like look at these fools they got what we got and yet they dont realize it......if we spent half as much time trying to take care of ourselves rather than spending everyting we got on clothing, weaves, going out, or the lastest fashion trend then we would be 100% better off.....I just finished reading a reply that someone put up talking abt Beyonce and Cira being bad influences........that I dont see, they dont talk abt anything that these so called female rappers talk abt.....Ciara made the goodies song which was abt not giving it up, and Beyonce made the Independnt song and the Yes song both were abt having our own and waiting for sex......what abt Webbie who made the hit Independent, or Ludacris song Run away love, ppl act as if there is something wrong with the things that these rappers rap abt...they are only shedding light on whats already going on...no one complained abt Denzel making American Gangster, or Demi Moore in her movie where she palyed the stripper, better yet no one said anything abt Master P wild dope, and crime infested movies.....what abt the fact that Tatum O'Neal just got busted with coke and crack, or what abt Heath Ledgers overdose, or Anna Nicole Smith; it was just awwww poor things such a traggic loss......no one says anything abt that yet we are so quick to jump down rappers throat; and the funny thing is that movie artist show way more degrading things than rappers, see we have this thing called FCC that regulates anything that comes on tv or the radio but there isnt anything that monitors what comes out in the theaters.....so what should we really be concerned abt? these rappers are not forcing these women to do anything; at the end of the day the women have the final say in should they wear this or not....I mean lest be honest we have some gold digging whores out here that will do anything to be next to these men, with no hesitiation...yet the men are the bad ppl...... how can ppl say that men are exploiting women when no one says anything abt white ppl exploiting the homelessness over in Africa......the point is responsibility is where this began and where it will end, once we as a whole stop wanting to keep up with the latest fashion trends, dressing these little kids like rappers, and fighting for the so called female rappers who act like they are fighting to open the door for others when the door is open these women are choosing to rap abt what they want...for exapmle that Kiah chick: her song my neck my back, plz; or what abt Jackie O: talking abt how juicy her stuff is.....we need to stop fighting whats in our face, and just accept what it is.......these rappers are human just like u and I; and for us to expect them felonies and all to teach our child or set an eample for them is crazy......and we wonder why these kids growning up have problems......not b/c of the rappers but b/c the parents are wanting the rappers to be role models.....
