Congratulations to Jay-Z and Beyonce!
Someone might have already posted this. But I just wanted to show some love to Jay and B who reportedly got married sometime this past weekend. They are the perfect match; I mean you couldn't find a better pair: the king of rap and the queen of R&B. Both Jay-Z and Beyonce are huge influences to their fans. I hope black male and female fans alike mimic their marriage the way they mimic their style. Only thirty percent of black women are married in this country. Hopefully having stars like Usher and Jay-Z getting married will glamorize the idea of respecting black women and making us wives, and slowly stop other stars from glamorizing misogyny and degrading us.

Re: Congratulations to Jay-Z and Beyonce!
Beyonce isn't the queen of R and B. That title belongs to Anita Baker. I don't listen to rap so I can't speak on Jay-Z. Most celebrity marriages don't last. Perhaps they will prove me wrong, but it seems that celebrities marry out of habit or publicity rather than love. Getting married is the "in" thing to do.
Actually, this brings up another subject. It seems that most males in Hollywood have to go for the stereotypical "beautiful, perfect" woman. It's rare to see such a guy in a relationshp with a "regular" girl (though that definition is debatable), with a normal physical appearance and regualr, non-glamourized personality. I give guys like Usher much credit for breaking the norm. Granted, it may genuinely be love, but I'm willing to bet that 9/10 times it isn't. Oh well, C'est la vie. I guess I'll never understand that desire for the popular cheerleader.

Beyonce is the queen of current R&B.

Yes some celeb couples get divorced quiker than they got married. But those are usually the get-married-after-a-few-months couples. Jay and Be were toghter for six years. I'm sure this was a well thought out, important desicion for them.

Re: Congratulations to Jay-Z and Beyonce!
I know that B and Jay are very private people, so I don't think they will ever come out and say they actually got married. I understand they want to protect their private lives, but I also think that B and Jay enjoy keeping people guessing with the "Did they or didn't they get married"! It's a lot of publicity and a good look for them to comtinue to be the hot topic that EVERYONE talks about!!I wish them the best and hopefully if their relationship was great, that their marriage can be even better, because marriage can change things, but I hope they make it!!And why must we keep calling the artist of today Queens of R&B etc. B is doing it big, but she has to have a career that spans 20 years to be called a queen. Lets just say that she is one of the leaders of the pack in todays music but lets not get it twisted she shares the top with ladies like Mary J and Alicia Keys because those ladies are unstoppable in a major way!!!!!
It's Mrs M to you! 5/5/07!!!!

the smiths work so well because they work as a team..there is no I in marriage... its WE. many dont understand that aspect of commitment and dont think that they need conselling before taking this step forward . hopefully jayz and beyounce will ride the rough with the smooth. they have been together many yrs . i wish them all the best and better still for NOT SELLING WEDDING PICTURES TO ANY OF THE MAGAZINES.. ! now, thats CLASS.!!
I hope we are not going to start fighting over who is the queen of r and b.. there is only one mary j..!!lol!(anita baker is my girl!!)

the tendency is that show biz people marry each other for a variety of reasons.. mainly its that they see each other all the time.. its the way things are.. show biz is about BODY IMAGE and that is never going to CHANGE EVER... so, not like before where you had aretha , and others not exactly perfect in the figure stakes belting out tunes and getting the hits, now, they wouldnt even get thru the door, as body perfect bimbo will always get first pic..even if they have to dub her voice.. now, am not referring to any star in particular but lets just say.. blonde hair and a neat little figure gets you a record contract.!!lol!.. having a hit reality tv show does wonders too.!! its not about the ability to sing..its about the market ..

Mary is the queen of hip-hop and soul (with R&B). Thats her title because she is an R&B singer who throws in "hip-hop soul" elements. Currently Beyonce is more like the R&B/pop queen.

Everthing in that statement is true. It's a shame that, in the black community, it's the norm to have kids out of wedlock; so much so that sometimes people who do get married and actually bring up kids in a (OMG) two parent household are thought of as uppidy. Before the crack generation, church, marriage and family were all a huge concerned for blacks. But now we are at a point where more than 70 percent of all black children in the U.S. are born to unwed mothers. So lets pray that this black celeb marriage trend (and black marrage in genral ) picks up speed and keeps going to the point where it's no longer a trend but a long due reality.
