I actually watched her show today. Very interesting topic. if anyone else saw it share your thoughts. Its sad that african women of different shades still have beef with one another becase of skin color. African american men usually dont have beef with one another because of skin tone. So whats up?

I saw it too, I liked how she discussed it.   I could not stand that self-hater on there.  I was raised to believe that no one has to measure up to some "rule of blackness" and that one of the best parts of being black is that damn near every time a black child is born, a beautiful new shade of brown is created.  It's bad when women hear stuff like "Oh, you cute to be dark," but the absolute worst is when someone is hating on the way their hair, or nose or skin tone is.

I always used to and still do feel bad for the brown sistas and dark skin sistas who constantly have to hear "O you look good for a dark woman" Its either she is pretty or she is not pretty. Why do they have to mention her skin tone?

bc they're ignorant. i grew up being teased by ppl who were as dark as me if not darker, but i learned to love myself and my color when i got older, after all, this is something i was born with and wouldn't dare change. it's not like i'm tar black, but if i was i would have to accept it and love it. black ppl of all shades and colors are all beautiful and we should remind eachother of it and embrace eachother instead of putting eachother down

im half black half white, and at my school no one thinks im black unless i tell them what i am, they either think im mexican or native american. it can be funny to c there reaction but at other times it really gets on my nerves, especially when i go to fill out any kind of form that asks for your nationality.
