Re: BET's Terms of Service - Effective 03/03/08
Oso long ago amidst the message board format changes, I received an email from the folks at BET asking me to read the terms of service.  I did, and in doing so I strive to 'maintain tolerant and thoughful interaction .... '.     The irony in all this is amidst all the verbiage, I'm left with one question:   When or where does BET apply a filter to screen the madness thats perpuated on these boards.  a)  At the front end or b) At the back end.Clearly no one enforces the rules laid out in the terms of service when it comes to a litany of 'N' posts and rhetoric around these parts.   Of course, something tells me that a malicious virus or advertising a third party website - among other things in the terms of service would result in a ban momentarily.  Enforce the d/a/m/n rules or get rid of them.   S/h/e/e/s/h!!Oh well!! There's some good playoff basketball to attend when the Orlando magic is in town or watch otherwise.    Carry on BET.--------Prediction:  Lakers-Magic finals.  Magic in 5.

IT MAKES ME WONDER HOW I KEEP FROM GOING UNDER!

IT MAKES ME WONDER HOW I KEEP FROM GOING UNDER!Now you're starting to show your age.  You're really old school :).   So how many of those Michael Jackson stickers, profile buttons, fake thriller jackets and posters did you own?  Were you ever struck by a smooth criminal?  In any event (need to get back on topic :)) , come to think of it a malicious virus may be accompanied with visits from Federal and local law enforcement official.  Oh well, before I get a knock on my front door, I suspect this would be a good time to leave well enough alone while I'm ahead.  Ya digg!.

This reminds me of something I often wondered about:   If a certain 'water' was advertised and claimed to cure cancer, diabetes, chlorestol, etc., what would keep a person from buying said water but subsquently die from the illness and suing that water hustler?    If it was me, I would be afraid to take advantage of someone sick and promise an incurable illness...................Some companies in Mexico get into a mountain of trouble a few years back for claiming bogus "cures".

its a bit of a joke, this terms of service when some posters are clearly violating those terms cos they are friends with the current mod . we need a mod who will actually enforce the laws and not turn a blind eye to the will and flagrant abuse being perpetuated by those carrying advertising for their friends businesses on here..

There’s a mod?   News to me and if the mod(s) have ‘friends’ on here I’d like to know who’s the mod.

While it’s true I’m unsure about what you’re alluding to with your use of ‘friends’,  my issue stems from the fact that  you could be sure posts by ‘retarded*17*Rboy’ (I perused one posts ..yah!!  You’d think the name alone will be enough clue for me to stay clear.  Real idiotic on my part, stepped right into the mess) violates the terms of the service.

You see, I’m not here to ‘make friends’.   Like all message boards, the rules – for me are quite simple, with the fundamental tenet being civil; and in doing so offering meaningful rebuttals to posts.  Repeat as often as you like.

Of course, the terms of services is also littered with a host of – what I’ll call - other stuff ranging from advertisement to virus etc.

In the end, if I infringe on the terms of service, by all means pull the plug.  If I’m – regardless of origin - part of the problem, then for BET the solution is simple.  I hope you get the point.
