For black folks? Well, we know if we go back too far it was all bad and depending on age these titles will vary. that being said.. Was it better for your Great grandparents as they didn't have to contend with AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases?Was it your Grandparents who grew up in the civil rights movement and united together out of necessity? How bout your parents who grew up in the sexual revolution era and achieved a true sense of self? How bout this generation who has experienced the technology boom of the century? I'm just curious to people's opinions on who's generation as blacks were better (or worse) and why?? I was a youngsta growing up in the early 70's and 80's so I feel I had the best of both worlds as far as black pride and newfound black freedoms. What's your opinion?

i was brought up in the 70's 80's also! if no one else brought up our generation, i was . but THANKS!!! I beleive we had lots more fun.

@ spacecadett...Yeah I think we had it going on too. We had Earth, Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, The O'jays etc growing up...And then by the teenage years we had Run Dmc, LL Cool J, Public Enemy etc..We had sexually transmited diseases but as I recollect it was basically VD and a few others that only required a shot in the butt. Nothing life threatning like today. It seems our generation was the best as we are right in the middle of both these uncertain and depressing eras. The generation before us had discrimination, bussing and race riots. The generation after us has so much to contend with I won't even go into it.

Damn!!! I wish i grew up n that generation now. U right about thatVD... i would've been hittin chicks left 2 right with no prob. But yeah yall music was and is still great. Artist today still barrow heavily from the greats.

Lol @ hmpup345...Well I can think of some positive things about your generation. You guys have the best communications i.e: cell phones, blackberries, laptops, etc...We had those old phones where each number was a long rotation around in a circle. Your video games are better as all we had was atari and the game "space invaders". All the women shave now as we had women who had so much hair down there we couldn't even see the va-jay jay. Well, that was my best attempt to make you feel better as I can't even think of anything else. Yeah, ya'll tore up! ...lol.

The Harlem Rennaisance opened a lot of doors. I would agree though, my father's generation. He is a baby boomer. His prime was the 60's and 70's and that's where he is still stuck at. Can you imagine?

Not my generation (late 80's baby). To get the people of my generation to speak and write coherently is like pulling teeth.
