Star [*] My Two Cents

WTF was Jeff thinking asking Barack why he had a black wife? That was so rude. However I do think that if he put her out on the campaign trail more often he would appeal more to African American women.  Michelle is smart, strong and sexy all on her own and I think that it is important for us to see black women as more than butt cheeks.

And why did they have to title the show, "What's in it for us?' WTF? How come black people have to play dumb and want to be coddled all the time? The man speaks on health care, education, affordable housing, etc... which effects more than black people so why do have to ask "What's in it for us?" if you need health care, an eduation or whatever then whatever he says applies to you. I don't think he should cater to blacks and only blacks. He is running for pres of the US of A not mayor of Detroit or DC.

Why question his blackness? I swear we don't want to be sterotyped, but we stereotype ourselves.

What about you? What did you think of the show?

Re: My Two Cents

I didn't see the show because I was watching the NH primaries on CNN. I already know where B.O. stands on the issues.

I, too was turned off by the title of the show. But anyway, black people don't think as a collective group of people or have a common goal anymore. It would be totally a waste of time for B.O. to come out the box campaigning Jesse Jackson style in 2008 and expect the majority votes. He has to get elected first and then he can come out swinging. Black people need to understand that change in an institution built on racism will not happen overnight but it CAN happen if we try to get him elected.

Footnote: Michelle Obama is the truth. She will be his strength with female voters and especially black women in SC.

The Man
Yes [Y] Re: My Two Cents

I think Barack loves all people and he has pride and love for his own people....I don't see him being white washed....and I do agree that being asked about his choice in a black wife was rude and had nothing to do with the man's vision of America's future....I think he'll make a competent, fair, and decisive leader....someone who could definitely affect change...And negotiate win-win solutions where everyone walks away happy...

That's why people love him because he represents everyone and he's not on this militant black pride kick like I believe Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson would....if you're gonna run a country effectively you have to make certain everyone is heard and represented....fairly...Those are principals this country's history hasn't been built on....I think that's the change he's promoting...A more humanistic government...

He made good common sense..he can't wave a magic wand and poof all black folks problems will be gone or whites/Hispanics/Asians etc.....like he said if he institutes individual message from a presedential podeum especially to black families and youths that will submitt a strong, relevant message...why? Because he is us and that can be real to a kid who see's him at their school or church..I still vividly remember when Mayor Harold Washington of Chicago visited us in Cook County hospital as a kid....

He's the only president willing to work with the hip hop community to promote positive change for the black community....how could he not when he has 2 beautiful black baby girls...Got to remember this man use to work "grassroot" on the southside of Chicago...deep in the ghetto to stir the community towards positive change and growth...Way back in the day

And his message to black parents to turn off the TV, video games, and computer and make the kids do their homework...become active in their education is sage advice...will everyone do it? probably not but it's a seed coming from a highly relevant source...

Maybe they asked about Michelle for the ignorant, scandalous sista's out there who want to know how they can be down....Because you know that's what's going on inside their heads..how can they get close to that brotha to knock him...he's gonna be the next Denzel, i'm tellin ya...

Attention All Truth fighters, There is a new website out selling T-Shirts (Apparel is the word their using to sound high class). They are selling these shirts with phrases like “Al “Permed Out” Sharpton”. I think we need to keep an eye out on them to make sure this does not take off any further. Maybe somebody can take this Brother Al and maybe he can say something about it on his radio talk show. http://www.rebelrockinc.com

Re: My Two Cents
I agree totally that Michelle Obama Should be on the campaign trail more often because she is an impressive woman. I am so pleased to see people of all races voting with passion, I have never wanted to vote as much as I do now and honestly it has very little to do with the color of his skin, but more to do with the way I feel about the future we can have with this man, if nothing else comes of Barrack Obama he has given me something that I have never had before and that is trust in a politician and hope that there is something better to look forward to.
