Can someone please tell me what is the name of the author who appeared on "My Two Cents" I think in late September or October sometime?  The discussion was about separation of black people dark skinned vs. late skinned.  There was an outside segment where Ryan interviewed a few people and gave them the "brown paper bag " test.

What is the author's name and what is the name of the book?

I don't know if this is what you are talking about but, there is a book called "Color Complex" by Russell, Wilson and Hall, that talks about this very issue

Hey thanks for the info, but I don't think that 's what I'm looking for.  I think the name of the book was "Betrayed something or a title with the word betrayed in it.  The guest was a dark skinned brotha who had some very strong opinions about black people needing to separate by their skin color (dark and light).  His opinions were very controversial among the other panelists.  I watched most of that show, but unfortunately I haven't seen it repeated.  I'm sure it has been repeated I just haven't seen it again.

I just saw the show you were talking about. I came to your post after doing a google search attempting to locate the info myself. I finally found the book and his info. The author's name is Bintell Powell and the name of the book is Betrayed: Based on a True Story. I pasted a link to it that also has the first chapter for free so you can decide if you want to buy it. It isn't what I thought it would be, but it may still be interesting. Enjoy!!

I saw that episode of My Two Cents today and I have to say that I did not agree with what this author was saying. He basically was saying that dark skinned blacks and light skinned blacks should separate themselves and consider themselves a different race. There are so many things wrong with this way of thinking, I don't even know where to begin. He puts all light skinned blacks in one boat and talks down about them.. Although a few things he said about the discrimination and a form of apartheid that blacks do to each other and how some light skinned blacks look down on darker skinned blacks is true...sometimes... but not all light skinned blacks think that way. He makes it seem as though they all are this way.  I believe his way of thinking ( on how we should separate ourselves from each other ) is playing into the hands of  the racist majority....  I won't buy it but I will sure pick it up at the library.........He made me angry when he said that light skinned black women date dark skined black men ONLY when there was an advantage. Wrong...Well I dont know what the hell is wrong with me because I have dated a few dark skinned brothers who had as much or less than I did. I gained no advantage in that relationship. I don't get it.  Most of your gold diggers or wanna-be gold diggers are your darker skinned black women..and I am serious. Often times they are the worst. Light skinned black women don't have an advantage over anybody. It is all in your crazy dark skinned mind and your inferiority complex.... When was the last time we had a light skinned black super model really.....Veronica webb?.Please
