Star [*] NOT H-I-V...H-P-V Get informed!
Hi all, what I'm about to share is personal, but I'll do so anyway for 2 reasons: 1, you don't know me and I don't know you, and 2, I want to help somebody b4 it's too late. I am a 32-year old female. I lived a pretty premiscuous lifestyle while I was in my early 20's mostly during college. You know what all that entails, no condoms, multiple partners at times, etc, etc. Well, I made a conscious decision one day b/c I was tired of being used and hurt and dissapointed by the guys that I was dealing with and I simply just stopped (with the help of God of course). I wanted to love MYSELF for a change. When I was 29 and met the love of my life, we got engaged and I have now been married for about 2 1/2 years. Well, I recently learned that somewhere along the path of promiscuity I contracted a virus called HPV. It stands for Human Papillomavirus. It doesn't kill like H-I-V, but left untreated, it can lead to cervical cancer and THAT is as just as big a killer as HIV and Aids. Thankfully, I was able to get treatment early and now I am fine, but I have to constantly watch that part of my body b/c it can come back. I said all that to say this; HOW MUCH FUN IS YOUR LIFE WORTH? Although my husband is supportive, he didn't ask to have to deal with this, but it didn't show up until AFTER I was married. And yes, he is at risk - every time we have sex. Just be smart young people. Either abstain, or be very very smart. Your life AND your UNSEEN FUTURE depends upon it. When I look back on some of the things I did, I only wish I could erase the past, but I can't. So I am content knowing that God has forgiven me, but if I could get the attention of just 1 person (male or female), it would all be worth it. Thanks for allowing me to share and please - get tested for HPV.

STOP THE STUPID TESTING IF YOU ARE NOT SICK!

http://www.boxturtlebulletin.com/Articles/000,013.htm

Whenever AIDS was discussed in the public sphere, it was the gay community that repeatedly came under fire for endangering the entire nation:

If homosexuals are not stopped, they will in time infect the entire nation, and America will be destroyed. — Rev. Greg Dixon, Moral Majority spokesman.34

Everyone detected with AIDS should be tattooed in the upper forearm, to protect common-needle users, and on the buttocks, to prevent the victimization of other homosexuals. — William F. Buckley, Jr.35

I think we should do what the Bible says and cut their throats. — Rev. Walter Alexander, First Baptist Church, Reno36

Rep. William Dannemeyer (R-Ca) was one of the most strident anti-gay voices in Congress. He hired Paul Cameron as his AIDS adviser, who was an early advocate of quarantining AIDS patients.37 Rep. Dannemeyer repeatedly demanded that Surgeon General C. Everett Koop begin mandatory testing of all gay men for AIDS and their names entered into a national database. Dr. Koop refused, believing that it would drive the disease underground and keep people from seeking treatment. At one point, Rep. Dannemeyer telephoned the Surgeon General and demanded to know why he refused to begin mandatory testing and reporting. Dr. Koop recounted that phone call, in which he told Rep. Dannemeyer:

“I told you, that’s not within the power of the Surgeon General, but for reasons I’ve also explained over and over, I wouldn’t do it if I could. But suppose just for the sake of argument, I could and did. Suppose I called you next week and said I now knew who every seropositive [HIV-positive] person was in the whole United States. What would you do?”

After a long pause, Dannemeyer, as I recall, replied, “Wipe them off the face of  the earth!”38

Hey 08D1 - keep your head and up many props to you for still being a pure, beautiful, young woman. You are so valuable right now that you don't even realize it. Once you sleep with a man who is not your God-given mate, something about your value diminishes. I know it seems that it's cool and all your girls may be doing it, but you hold on and find a female you trust who is strong, intelligent who is preferably older than you for strength when you get weak girl. Maybe you can't talk to your mom or even your sister, but there has to be somebody in your life that's an adult, got it together and you can trust them. I believe in you and you can do! That way, when your wedding night comes, you won't have nothing to hide [diseases, abortions, etc] from your husband. I don't mean to preach to you, but people need to realize that there is so much more in life for you than just being a video girl, droppin' it, and being somebody's baby mama. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you so much for your honesty and your feeling of obligation to help some1 else by sharing your experiences. I think that is a very beautiful thing and blessing when God uses some1 and puts them through the fire and trials and tribulations to in turn reach out after or even during their going through what their going through. HE's definetly used me. and eventhough I may have made some wrong choices in the past or went through some ordials that I would never wish on my worst enemy, I still became a strong and changed person. I've become abstainent and am now waiting until i get married. I'm so thankful I have a merciful God, and HE hasn't given me just 2nd chances, but 3rd and 4th....... My life is in HIS hands. I could have gotten HIV or any other life threatening disease that can't be cured, but I didn't. HE was the only 1 that protected me, the one who saved me from myself. just like the song "I never could have/would have made it without HIM."
The voyage of life's Journey is not to seek new landscapes, but to Seek and Find New EYES.

Thanks for sharing this educated information with every one.

Your post opened eyes for everyone who is ignorant in educating themselves.  Not to take anything from u... i learned about this topic in High School. In High School i took 3 years of Health Awareness.

I learned of three top STD's a person cannot get rid of:

1. HIV/AIDS

2. Herpes

3. HPV

Stay strong and aware my sister God Bless!

I LEARNED ABOUT HPV IN HS MY SR YR...BUT IT WASN'T THRU HEALTH CLASS LIKE AIDS AND HERPES IS BUT THRU A GUEST SPEAKER. IT WAS B4 ALL THESE COMMERCIALS STARTED COMING OUT ONE THOSE DISEASES THAT NO1 HEARD ABOUT...AND MOST CERTAINLY DIDN'T KNOW THAT U COULD GET IT THRU SEX EVEN IF U USED A CONDOM. I REMEBER HEARING ABOUT IT AND THINKING HOW SCARY THAT WAS AND WONDERING WHY THERE WASN'T N3 WORD ON IT...THE FACT THAT IT COULD CAUSE CANCER....NOW YOU HAVE THESE ONE LESS COMMERCIALS OUT WHICH WERE NOT HERE 4-5 YRS AGO...CRAZY
GOD didn't promised days without pain, laughter without sorrow or sun without rain. But, GOD did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and a light for the way
