Music [8] Video Soul and In Video

*I tried to send the following message to email, but there doesn't seem to be a viable address.  I hope that someone who works at BETJ will see this*

I've been watching BETJ since receiving it in March of '06.  I was very pleased in October of last year when they started showing original episodes (uncut) of Video Soul.   Like many others, I wasn't lucky enough to afford cable back in the day, so this was really my first chance at seeing this show.  Lately there has been a lot of shows being aired from 1992-1994.  That's nice for ppl who were kids or teens back then, but what about showing some older episodes (more like 1988-1990)?  That isn't too far back from what is already being shown.  Just to have a little variety, couldn't you air programs in chronological order, starting with a show, for example in January '89 (on Monday's program), then showng a episode from February '89 on Wednesday's program, etc.?  There are literally hundreds of videos that came out back in the day, & I know when you were airing a lot of eppys from '91, you pretty much aired the same videso each time.  This way there could be a better variety in the programming.

Also, I enjoy seeing In Video, & seeing old school artists that you have on there.  Could you please play Good Girls & Tyler Collins on future episodes?  I've never gotten a chance to see their videos, but I do have their cds.  Thank you.

Re: Video Soul and In Video
I am disappointed with the amount of repeats BET-J continues to air of my favorite shows Video Soul and In Video.  The In-Video episode with Kelly Rowland has aired every week for the past 5 or 6 weeks.  A couple of weeks ago, they aired the exact same episode of Video Soul on Monday, Wednesday and Friday!!!!  C'mon BET J!  You can't be serious!  With all of the classic episodes of Video Soul, you have the keep re-airing the same ones?  What about the episodes from the 1980's?  This is what people want to see!!!!   And the dozens of artist that have yet to be featured on In-Video, you choose to keep showing Kelly Rowland???  You guys really need to start listening to your audience.

Super Angry [8o|] Re: Video Soul and In Video
Shady and ClassicSoul, I agree wtih you. I tried sending BETJ an email and it came back as well. The communication is horrible and the programming of both networks is bad. I understand if BET is going to be a network for the younger demographic. Then BETJ should be an alternative for an older demographic. If TVLand can program for the almost dead, and have a lineup and consistant programming, I know BETJ can do the same. The only thing I can think of is that there's a lot of young interns working there who don't know real soul and what the fans like to see. Many people on this board have requested older episodes of Video Soul. If they didn't keep the tapes or no longer have access to them in their archives, then it would be nice for them to reply on this board and we wouldn't bother them about it anymore. If they don't have access to those shows, why not show other rare music programming from the BET archives. I would love to see old episodes of Midnight Love, or Video Vibrations. Do anyone still watch Planet Groove? I was very glad to see that BETJ was going to re-air it but they showed the same 5 episodes over and over. I was surprise at the many times they showed the Kelly Roland In-Video. I'm sure, many of Kelly's fan are in a different demographic than the Cherrelle or Miki Howard Fan. Why show it over and over? I really do wish BETJ would just stick to older music programming. Girlfriends can be seen on 50 different stations. I can watch it on the other stations. I used to watch Soul Sessions for the older videos, but I only see about one 80's video in every two hour session.

Crying [:'(] Re: Video Soul and In Video

Hello everyone,  Im new here and I want to share my frustration.  I first caught a glimpse of BET J, it was BET Jazz at the time, about a year ago. I fell in love with it and the programming.  Then the format and the name changed to BET J.  It was cool.  I saw some new shows and thats how I came to know some of the latest jazz artists like Corrine Bailey Rae and Goapele.  I loved the music until one day I came home and my screen was blue.  I called the cable company and they told me that BET J was now on a higher paying service and if I wanted to have the channel, I had to subscribe to the (more money) service.  They said it was the decision of BET to do it that way.  I don't know about you all but for one thing it's not a lot of good shows on cable as it is and to pay $20 more for one decent channel had me very upset.  I tried to contact BET with no avail.  I am a hard working single mother with money that is tight and I feel that I should be able to enjoy something I like and pay for without digging deeper into my pockets.  Cable is high enough as it is!  Let the teenie bopers pay for all the rump shakin.  Give me my BET J. I read some of the other posting about the programming and I wish I could share your pain at this time.  Right now I'm just trying to get on.  I too hope someone from BET reads this and tell me how can I get my channel back.

Ps. My (money suckers) oops I mean subscriber is Time Warner!
