Idea [I] Re: When did we start letting HIP HOP raise our kids?!
Thank you....Im a 18 year old female. and i to understand everyones point of view in this situation. all of trey songs songs are great i love them all...srry to those who dnt. but anyways like u said we, the black community need to stop sitting up here and allowing hip hop to raise our kids, raise ourself, influence us, and then turn around and complain about it! Realize hip hop is a form of art. Yea the videos need some improvement but its a way of art n a way to express ourselves. Either u like it or you dont but its our faults for lettin it get this out of control. But we as people feed on wat we know. If u used to seeing bling bling, drugs, guns, *58*, pimps, big as chevy's, then u feed off of it. But at some point and time we need to realize ok this is just hip hop. Wat they say in these songs aint 100percent true. Letting hip hop raise our children is something we can fix only if we take the time out n talk to our kids and let them know "look its a song its a video, this is their job" If we learn to COMMUNICATE and TALK with our children on a daily baises, this whole cycle can and will be reversed!

Nas was right because hip hop is dead.   Our (it's not just us/blacks, but society in general) problem lies with the breakdown of the family.   When 1 or more parent is missing and noone else is willing to watch the bad *** kids, then we put them in front of a tv (which is also why more kids are fat now).   TV, radio and whatever else they can find to do the job they can't or won't do, replaces good parenting.I'm a black woman in my early 30s and I don't have any kids.  I kind of agree with Bill Cosby.  I can't name 1 hip hop artist that is a positive role model in all aspect of his/her life.  But, I buy hip hop and R&B music.   The video vixen stuff is really out of control.

Confused [*-)] Re: When did we start letting HIP HOP raise our kids?!
Hip- Hop is not raising your children you are. If music videos and lyrics or song are such an issue monitor your children better. If your neighbor watched things you don't approve of don't send your child to their house. It is up to you as a parent to install morals, values and the true meaning of self respect and respect for others into your children lives. It is up to that child growing up either to pratice what is taught or to completely ignore what you are teaching. Hip- Hop is a way fro people to express themself and sex, violence and discrimation is apart of life. Love and happiness is apart of life but children must also know about disappointment, struggles and all the other barriers in life that may come. 50 cent, Jay-Z and MOP are not the only rappers Common, MOS DEF, Twelie Kalib and Lupie Fiasco are all positive Hip- Hop artist that children can listen to, children generally listen to what's played in their house hold so may it's not just hip- hop it's the hip-hop that the parents are listning to than getting upset because their children are reciting the lyrics. Think About It!
