Hello everyone. I haven't commented on this thing since page 12 or so, but I see the Maoshan controversy is still going strong. I also saw his rant on Youtube... this has unfortunately gotten out of hand. A friendly style vs. style competition on the internet, if it could have been set up, would have been entertaining. Looking at it without bias, maybe Maoshan has done his homework, and evolved his Kung Fu to the point where it may stand a chance against MMA. Maybe not. But seeing the way Machida (Shotokan mixed with MMA) handled Ortiz this past weekend, it could be possible. But now Maoshan wants to fight with no rules? It seems like he wants to hurt someone for real, and it would be irresponsible for those of us who are MMA fans to want to see this happen.
On another note, although they are showing more fights, the Iron Ring still makes no sense, and is bad T.V. I only watch it now on the BET website, at work on my lunch breaks. I have better things to to with my Tuesday nights, like read a book... or sleep...

Thanks for your response. I don't feel it is necessary to read all the responses, he just appeared to have the biggest mouth. I understand the concept of fighting to protect your family, but I think this is entirely different. If Maoshan thinks he is better what is wrong with that? That is his opinion and he is entitled to it. Do you fight? If so why?

That is his opinion and he is entitled to it. Do you fight? If so why?----------------------------------------------------------Hi Bella,----------------------While I don't think I speak for the entire MMA community, I do think everyone can agree that there have been a lot of people from the Kung Fu community discrediting MMA as a viable form of defense. I also think they agree that while there is love for Kung Fu, it has been shown over and over again that one cannot totally rely on a certain singular "way" of fighting. Kung Fu has been a large believer in that obsolete ideal and has been proven time and again to be wrong. If not by MMA, by several grapple-based martial arts.-------------------------------------------------------------Now, if Kung Fu works real well with Maoshan, great! Best of luck to him. It's a style that fits him as an individual. What he doesn't understand though, is that he thinks that Kung Fu is THE style for everyone when it's not. MMA allows people to train in several arts that allows them to form styles comfortable to the individual. Instead of accepting this ideal, Maoshan prostulates that worn out ideal.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Maoshan has been given a chance to prove this ideal by several fighters. There is even a cash prize. Maoshan seemed to have stepped down using another tired excuse from TMA stating that Kung Fu is "too dangerous and fatal" for competition. If this is true, then several styles, notably Sambo and Catch Wrestling, should not be part of MMA training regimen due to their dangerous and fatal techniques.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------While the MMA community isn't sweating Maoshan, he hasn't retracted his statements. This could hurt his reputation as a fighter as well as a trainer of Kung Fu. His statements could also create doubt within his students and may cause problems.-------------------------------------------------------------Again, the MMA community doesn't hate Kung Fu, but it is concerned with it's members not looking within itself and inovate as well as rethink certain stratagies in order to adapt to all situations.------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thanks for reading.----------------------------Royal

Is Maoshan a copy-cat? Dan Quinn calls out Kimbo Slice (7 months ago): http://youtube.com/watch?v=3cUHrky6-FM Dan's video* > Maoshan's *Don't do drugs. Meth kills. Stevia may cause uncontrollable oral and a n a l leakage.

My sides are still hurting from laughter. When Maoshan walked into that cage to talk smack, I was thinking the exact same thing.

Despite numerous claims by Maoshan and BT that they don't care what I think or post and despite saying they have nothing to hide they had my youtube account deleted. I realize it is confirmation of everything I ever said about them but I still must say I'm disapointed. Maoshan put his challenge video up for a couple days and Nick responded. After that the video was taken down and Maoshan hasn't stopped running yet. What are you afraid of Hill? You don't need to answer because we all know.

I'm watching the Iron Ring Finale as we speak...For a bunch of people who claim to take the sport so seriously, why is it that half of the celebrity owners were either in jail, or had something more important to do at the time that this was taped? I guess they got what they wanted out of the expeirience, and moved on to bigger and better things. (except for T.I. and Krazy Horse, they were locked up.)
