What does the bible say the mind is and what do you say the mind is (Give them and exoteric and an esoteric repsonse please). The mind?? First of all, certain people have discovered that we as human beings only use about 15% of our minds anyways! I believe the mind is where we hold our believes, custums, philosophy etc.......I do not believe that the mind capacity is all that broad, actually, it seems to be very basic in nature. We do STUPID things all the time. Like, for example, smoking cigarattes.......We know that it will eventualy kill us but our mind says to smoke it anyway. Is that intellegent?? no! its actually animalistic. Even an animal knows when to stay away from smoke. Why do our minds make choices like that every day?? Becuase it's been corrupted. so in continuing......That mind is very basic in nature, even animalistic......thats the condition of the mind without the spirit being involved. the mind can only operate according to the 5 physical senses, that's it!! sight, tough, smell, hearing, feeling etc it cannot go beyong that UNLESS you contact the spirit which is not bound by the 5 physical sense....because the spirit is not physical in the first place! it's spirit. The Spirit can contact the Physical realm and the spiritual realm, WHERE GOD IS!...for God is a spirit. Its no wonder why so many people try to contact God, but Cannot. why? its because they are on the wrong freguency, very simply put. Your mind cannot cantact God, only your spirit can. You can't "get" to God on the 5 physical sense either....... epecialy based on how you FEEL. How you feel doesn't mean squat when dealing with God, OK? Although, there are times when you feel his presence...which is another topic. @risks

Wildecoyote,we can not blame the world's ills on the church. The church give the message of Christ,and many of them lives the christian life. Most men blk or any color choose to serve themselves ,rather than God. Christianty is a personal relationship with a personal God through Jesus Christ. "Whoever call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. God is real,and HIS word is true. Seek the Lord for your self. He is only a prayer away. Christ is the answer to all the ills that you mention. If you and others have problems with the chuch,call on God. God will lead you to a church where you can be rooted and planted in the word of God. There is salvation,and life sustaining power in Christ. Yes, man will sometime fail you,but mankind is not the Savior of the world. God is Love,and he will not fail you. You are not saying anything new here .but i can see that you have a much more genuine love of AFRICA . You will never read the noi groupie preachers talk about my continent like that . Even though you have not been to africa , how you discribe the friday call to prayer is True. I taught boys in a muslim school in northern NIGERIA , as part of my service as a "Youth corper". This graduate service still operates today. This is a common sight that i have always taking for granted.You need to see this too.

AusarAmenRa, that was a good post . African traditional beliefs do have a strong element of sprituality that is non white and has nothing to do with their influence. I am thinking of the various yoruba god's like "SHANGO". The god of Thunder/Iron . You can see the film of his story on "obe tv" and online. We have a very rich cultural heritage that american blacks cannot share as they have been cut off years ago .but education can make up for lost ground.it just is not a priority for you . Pity
