I am not a martial artist of any merit, but I have a great respect and interest in systems of combat.  I would like to thank Maoshan for answering an earlier post and for answering the calls of some of these heated exchanges.Historically, point sparring came into play because of injuries to practioners and difficulty in getting insurance.  So the "one strike one kill" philosophy came into play and point sparring became the norm...but it gave practioners a false sense of confidence. However, the Gracie challenge has proven that strikers can be neutralized and that many practitioners were training in systems that were not effective.  I am not aware of open challenges other than the Gracie challenge, the results of which are posted online.  It is possible that the unsuccessful fights were not posted, but given the fame associated with those who are able to beat the Gracies, I don't think this is the case.  So how does a practioner know if the system he or she is studying is effective against a skilled opponent?  Master Lil Jon Davis, a well respected Harlen based martial artist has taken on the mantle of reffing the iron ring bouts.  Again, one wonders whether one of his students would be successful in the contests he is reffing, a question easily answered by having one of his students participate. We all know that any master who brings a student into the ring will open his system to either great praise or great ridicule.How is one to distinguish Tiger Crane from Tiger Shulman without seeing these systems at work.  Maoshan, please follow through on the MMA challenge and have the fight posted the web to prove my underlying suspicion...combat martial artists would defeat sport based martial artists handily... and if your opponent is mortally injured that is a risk that legal waivers and the ref are there to handle.Respect

Wow, I can now understand why Maoshan is ignoring these posts. I can also see why martial artists who have developed lethal techniques would avoid this type of dialogue. I am not Maoshan, I am not posting as Maoshan. I singned my post with Respect becuase I feel that Maoshan is representing the inner circle of highly skilled martial artists who challenge each other and test their technique and he has NO REASON to say anything to anyone who is not a part of that circle. Master Lil John Davis, Professor Visitacion (RIP), Master Ron Taganashi (RIP), Master Moses Powell (RIP) were all featured in movie called the Warrior Within. This movie made a lasting impression on me and left me convinced that there are skilled practioners who do not engage in sport contests becuase they either have nothing to prove, or everything to lose. The Gracie BJJ movement presents some serious challenges and I would like to see high caliber classic martial artists prove that their systems and years of training can counter BJJ. Again I say respect and please remember to wear black today in memory of Sean Bell whose death has proven once again that injustice is the norm for the Black man.

I am not Maoshan, but I am a colleague of him, and can say that part of the training regime of BaguaZhang's conditioning is hitting trees for hours at a time non-stop, will definitely have it's advantages against an MMA who bangs dude's for hours at a time. You aren't even worth the *** hairs that fall off my grandmother. Do the decent thing for once in your life and terminate your worthless existence without further delay, you chromosome-botched bobblehead.

While I don't agree that Baqua or Kung Fu guys are worrying the top MMA guys very much, I do agree that the Iron Ring group does not represent MMA very well.The fighter thats been singled out as doing the best on the show so far(Joe Camacho) just got beaten down in an MMA show(BattleCage) by a guy named Ken Stone.The vids out there either at the school webite http://www.sssfighting.com or at the school (South Shore SportFighting) or Kens myspace.Brutal body kick broke the guys ribs.The kick sounds like s shotgun blast.But though the fighters mostly don't seem that great, the show is still addictive.Especially listening to the babbling old dude who's in charge "No warming up on the street!" "Holding a man for more than 5 seconds is romance"....He's doesn't know jack about MMA, but he's still a sweet combo of Mr Miyagi and Rev Wright.

As far as Nick Thompson is concerned……I don’t know whether he actually knows about this guy or not but be serious. The fight will not happen and even if it did you know very well an excuse will be waiting. Maoshan himself will say the fight was unfair somehow and that he could have just reached down his opponents throat and pulled out his heart at any time, if it weren’t for the damn rules! His “homies” would claim he isn’t one of the real Kung Fu guys anyway (as he claims about every Kung Fu guy who was actually battle tested and inevitably lost) and the crouching claw squatting bear master would still destroy everyone with one hand tied behind his back and his eyes closed.

Nick is a joke,  he have horrible striking, and his ground game is  horrible. A pro level brazilian jiu jitsu practitioner would easy eat him alive in a match. I never Met Maoshan, But I met and workout a few times with Mr. bell (BlackTaoist) he a real brother, his fighting skills just as real. I been training mma for over ten years, but all my mma training has not perpare me for a person attacking your eyes, throat, testes,or spinal column which  many of these brothers I list above are foremost expects attacking these areas.  I am in the military, and the techniques  these brothers teach are great for real world combat, one of the reason why I check these brothers out in the first place. If you white bigots not so scare go check these black men out, they open your eyes up to a whole new reality of combat. But first you must kill the hate in your heart and racism. Real intellectual people will notice these brothers and they martial art no matter how much you bigots try and hate on these black men and all the brothers on the iron ring show, real always recognizes real!
