Re: Poll: Ladies, how do y'all feel about circumcision?
I'm in agreement with your opinion Shenelle, I would prefer that any man I'm sexually involved with be circumcised and if he isn't, I'd insist that he has the procedure performed. The foreskin must be cleaned thoroughly on a consistent basis, otherwise bacteria begins to build and he may develop a yeast infection that can be passed to the woman during intercourse. I'd rather avoid all of this and just insist he becomes circumsized..LOL!

Re: Poll: Ladies, how do y'all feel about circumcision?
That's cold that you'd make your man get circumsized. How would
you feel if your man said he wouldn't be with you unless you got a boob
job or got your labia trimmed off? In some parts of the world men won't
touch women unless they've had their parts circumsized and that's just
not right.
A man, cut or not, looks and works the same once he's erect, so really
who cares. Same for hygiene. If a man doesn't bathe, it's going to be
nasty either way. As long as he's a clean person, it'll be fresh and
ready. Any man who hasn't showered in 3 days isn't going to be a
visitor in my bed anyway!
Whether a man has been cut or not it's not his fault - it was a
decision made by his parents. Men who have foreskins have all the
nerves down there. Cut men lose a lot of that sensation so it's better
to leave it there at birth.
I never thought much about it until someone in one of my classes gave a speech on it.
Watch this baby on this video. There is no way that's a right thing to
do to your baby and if a doctor tries to do that to my kid he'll get a
fist full!

So are you dating the man or just his penis? If you're only concern is
the way his d!*k works then you're pretty shallow. They've got toys for
people like you. They come in all colors, shapes and inches. Get one of
those and you won't have to worry with the man it's attatched to.

Thanks Raven, you said it. Have you others any idea how offensive it is, how ugly you seem, to the 3/4 of the world's men who are intact, to suggest that we're not good enough for you until we have half the skin and most of the nerves of our d!cks cut off? Try the shoe on the other foot; women's genitalia have lots of folds and places that can get odorous too, y'know. ...And Bonnie, where do you think he GOT the yeast infection...?

Re: Poll: Ladies, how do y'all feel about circumcision?
@Raven, having my breasts
uplifted or even down-sized isn't a health concern or won't cause medical
issues within a sexual encounter. I reside within the United States
where female circumcision is prohibited, so no man would ever request that I
have my clitoris removed and if they did, I wouldn't entertain the idea.
As I stated, a male not being circumcized can build bacteria underneath the
excess skin which may lead into a bacterial or yeast infection that may be
contracted during intercourse by the woman's vagina. It's a health issue
and something the majority of mothers have completed when their male children
are first born. I never once stated that he must become circumcized, he could easily state that isn't a procedure he's interested in and that he refuses. I wouldn't be intimate with him without a condom EVER, but I wouldn't leave the relationship because he isn't circumcized either. I'd insist, but that doesn't necessarily equate to "he must or else." Never the less, a child will never know the difference if the procedure's performed at birth. How will they realize the sensation's different then it would've been if their parents hadn't chosen to remove the skin? If anything, it'll prevent hygenic issues because the majority of young male children don't wash themselves correctly as is, imagine them having to clean underneath their foreskin on a nightly basis.

Re: Poll: Ladies, how do y'all feel about circumcision?
@Hugh, if a man isn't circumcized and he doesn't properly clean and care for the foreskin, bacteria will build underneath and that will cause an infection. That's where it begins and had you read my original post, it would've been obvious because I had stated it.The male children bore from my womb will be circumcized shortly after they're birthed, that's my own perspective and how I'll handle my children.

Re: Poll: Ladies, how do y'all feel about circumcision?
I AGREE WITH BONNIE 100%... COME ON NOW
RavenInNJ IT'S A KNOWN FACT THAT IF A MAN IS NOT CIRCUMCISED HE IS MORE PRONE TO INFECTION THAT'S THE REASON WHY MOST BOYS GET CIRCUMCISED AT BIRTH... IT IS NOT REALLY MUCH OF A PREFERENCE AND IT'S NOT SHALLOW TO WANT A MAN TO BE CIRCUMCISED, IT'S A HEALTH PRECAUTION. YOU SAY YOU HEARD A SPEECH ABOUT CIRCUMCISION, ALOT OF SPEECHES ARE BIASED AND ARE NOT CREDIBLE SO MAYBE YOU SHOULD CHECK THE SOURCES OF THE SPEAKER BEFORE YOU SAY THAT THERE IS NO PROOF THAT UNCIRCUMCISED MEN HAVE TO BE MORE CAREFUL OF BACTERIA

The Facts About Circumcision
I am the mother of a five year old son who I opted NOT to have circumcised. The Pediatrician that I consulted before my son was born said that it was as cosmetic as a woman getting her ears pierced. BTW it started as a Jewish religious custom and MOST of the men in the world are NOT circumcised.I took the liberty of looking up FACTS .......
How do I decide about circumcision?
Deciding whether to have your newborn son circumcised may be
difficult. You will need to consider both the benefits and the risks of
circumcision. Other factors, such as your culture, religion and personal
preference, will also affect your decision. The information about
circumcision in this handout may help you make your decision. After you have
read the handout, talk with your doctor about any concerns you have. The
decision about whether to have your son circumcised should be made before your
baby is born.

What is circumcision?
During a circumcision, the prepuce or the foreskin, which is the
skin that covers the tip of the penis, is removed. Circumcision is usually
performed on the first or second day after birth. It becomes more complicated
and riskier in infants older than 2 months and in boys and men. The procedure
takes only about 5 to 10 minutes. A local anesthetic (numbing medicine) can be
given to your baby to lessen the pain from the procedure.
Are there any benefits from circumcision?
Studies about the benefits of circumcision have provided
conflicting results. Some studies show certain benefits, while other studies do
not. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says the benefits of circumcision
are not significant enough to recommend circumcision as a routine procedure and
that circumcision is not medically necessary. The American Academy of Family
Physicians believes parents should discuss with their son's doctor the potential
benefits and the risks involved when making their decision.A recent AAP
report stated that circumcision does offer some benefit in preventing urinary
tract infections in infants. Circumcision also offers some benefit in preventing
penile cancer in adult men. However, this disease is very rare in all men,
whether or not they have been circumcised. Circumcision may reduce the risk of
sexually transmitted diseases. A man's sexual practices (e.g., if he uses
condoms, if he has more than one partner, etc.) has more to do with STD
prevention than whether or not he is circumcised.Study results are mixed
about whether circumcision may help reduce the risk of cervical cancer in female
sex partners, and whether it helps prevent certain problems with the penis, such
as infections and unwanted swelling. Some studies show that keeping the penis
clean can help prevent these problems just as well as circumcision. Infections
and unwanted swelling are not serious and can usually be easily treated if they
do occur.

What are the risks of circumcision?
Like any surgical procedure, circumcision has some risks.
However, the rate of problems after circumcision is low. Bleeding and infection
in the circumcised area are the most common problems. Sometimes the skin of the
newly exposed glans becomes irritated by the pressure of diapers and ammonia in
the urine. The irritation is usually treated with petroleum ointment (Vaseline)
put directly on the area. This problem will usually lessen after a few days.

How do I care for my baby's penis after a circumcision?
Gently clean the area with water every day and whenever the
diaper area becomes soiled. Some swelling of the penis is normal after a
circumcision. A clear crust will probably form over the area. It normally takes
7 to 10 days for the penis to heal after a circumcision. After the
circumcision, you may notice a small amount of blood on the baby's diaper. If
the bloodstain is larger than the size of a quarter, call your doctor right
away. In addition, you should call your doctor if a Plastibell device was used
during the circumcision and the device doesn't fall off within 10 to 12 days. If
there is a bandage on the penis instead of a Plastibell, the bandage should be
changed each time you change your son's diaper. This will help prevent
infection. Signs of infection also signal the need to call your doctor. These
signs include a temperature of 100.4°F or higher, redness, swelling and/or a
yellowish discharge.

Look, circumcised penises are more attractive. Who wants to look at a *** with that melting skin hanging off the edge like that.

Re: The Facts About Circumcision
Wow, my question certainly did prompt some strong opinions. I didn't mean to imply that anyone has to agree with me, that's why I posted this as a poll question, but for me personally, I support circumcision and no amount of long winded responses are really going to convince me otherwise. I feel that it leads to better hygiene as I said, since there is simply no place for germs and bacteria to hide under once the skin has been removed. That makes the penis both healthier and more appealing sexually. I do think looks matter in this department, and in that category I feel the circumcised penis wins hands down. I'm not going to impose my opinions on others, you can do what you like with your sons, etc., but I know that any man I become serious with will have to be circumcised, and that I will make sure any sons I have are circumcised at birth as well. I know that worldwide there may be a lot of uncircumcised boys and men running around, but that's not how it's going to be in my house. And I don't know the exact numbers, but I feel that the majority of sistas agree with me on this.

Re: The Facts About Circumcision
@Hadassah, my male children will be circumcized, period. It's great that you've researched it thoroughly and chose to not have your son snipped because of this, but without statistical facts, young male children don't properly maintain their hygiene as they should. They love to play and be outdoors and feel that bathing may be a hassle, so at eight and nine, once a mother has stopped monitoring them, they won't bathe themselves properly. This may lead to a continous infection and eventually, a pediatrician will suggest the child be circumcised to prevent further bacteria building. My boyfriend's child is nine and he must insure that he's bathed correctly and has brushed his teeth every night because he views it as something he isn't interested in.
I would rather this occur at birth.

Men still have to clean the penis either way. This makes no sense what so ever.

Re: The Facts About Circumcision
@Bonnie, It would seem that your children need to be educated about hygiene. My five year old son bathes himself and we do NOT have a problem with hygiene. Majority of the men in the WORLD are NOT circumcised. This remains an American and Jewish custom.Circumcision is NOT medically necessary, if it boils down to preference that's one thing but when you begin to speak on medical facts then you should have ACTUAL facts and not your opinion.Millions of Black women suffer from all types of PID's because their mothers taught them to douche, we know now that douching does more harm than good and is NOT recommended. Do your research before you start spouting "facts".

Re: Poll: Ladies, how do y'all feel about circumcision?
[How do you make paragraphs on this thing?]- Bonnie, nobody was talking about clitoridectomy. The nearest equivalent of male circumcision would be having the clitoral hood removed. If a man demanded that (and if it was legal) would you agree? Would you do it to a baby girl? That too would remove a place where smegma can collect, and make cleaning a lot easier... (I'm not advocating it of course.)
- The yeast has to come from somewhere, and the obvious place is the last woman he was with. It certainly doesn't always happen, so cutting parts off him "just in case" is overkill.
- You have a new definition of "insist". Until now, "he must or else" was exactly what "insist" does mean.
- A child certainly will know the difference once he grows up and learns what he's lost. See and read what these men have to say. (And scroll up for some famous cases.)
"Who wants to look at a *** with that melting skin hanging off the edge like that." Lots of women (and men) - and not just look. Why not? It's natural, it's whole, it's unscarred, and it can do things for both of you that the cut-off ones can't. You like the look of a circumcised penis because that's what you're familiar with, but viewed objectively it's like an amputation stump, and anyone who prefers such a thing has a fetish."I'm not going to impose my opinions on others, you can do what you like with your sons, etc."But what is cutting part off part of a baby's pen!s but imposing your opinion on him?
