Gerald Levert won because he was the best person to win the award. I am glade he won. I love Gerald, God bless his soul. I love his music, I always have, and always will. I miss you Gerald, I know it was your time to go, I just hate you had to leave. My heart goes out to his family and love ones. He is greatly missed.I love you still, your girl nitray123.

I would love to see more of Gerald Levert videos. Gerald and I had a love affair though his songs. BET Jazz should have a show with all of his songs. I would love that.I miss him.

It seems that artist are not really recognized for their work until they're gone and that's sad. BET rarely if at all played Gerald's videos, but yet when he died, they all of a sudden wanted to play his videos and nominate him for awards. I know I am a little late in responding to your statemenet, but you really need to check yourself.  Maybe his passing sparked them to realize what a great artist he was but Gerald should have been winning lots and lots of awards with what he had to say in his songs.  It is such a shame that unless women are being disrespected in songs no one wants to recognize.  He was one of the greatest artist that ever did the damn thing.  When all those disrepectful songs get played out, his music will still be going strong because he sung about treating women they way they deserved to be treated.  You obviously don't listen to his music because if you did there is no way you would have made a statement like that.  You have totally disrespected his family and friends and all the fans that he has throughout the world with a comment like that. 

I am a fan of his and i will remain of fan of his until I  leave here. 

Take some time to listen to his music and i bet you will be sorry for that statement. 

I know Gerald is in a better place, but i miss him dearly. 

I'm a fan of Geralds too...every since his lavert days...but  keep it real...If Gearld wasn't dead...Gearld would not have won!!1

i agree that Gerald should have been winning all along...he was a great entertainer and he treated his fans like gold...for some reason a lot of people don't notice an entertainer until they are gone or the media draws their attention to them and after Geralds death...many tuned into his music and realized a little too late that they had been missing something great...i am just so happy that  i got to see him so many times and that i had the pleasure of meeting him and his family and crew so many times and they are the most beautiful group group of people i have ever met

Obviously you are not a TRUE Gerald Levert fan because if you were you would recognize that Gerald was a GREAT talent and went without the recognition he truly deserved his whole career. Like other great talents it took his death for people to realize what a gift he was to the world/music industry. Gerald was a very caring, giving person.  He was devoted to his career and his fans, he gave his everything. He released 9 SOLO albums in 15 years! How many other r&b singers can that be said about? Sure some of the others may have been more well known but their music is “trend” music, Gerald’s music will be around forever. It’s timeless, meaningful and full of substance. If you have ever seen Gerald perform you would totally agree he put his ALL into every single song he performed, whether it be a concert or a television performance. I have seen Gerald in concert so many times and never got tired of seeing him perform because he made sure he put on a show. I can remember when he tore his Achilles tendon and had to have surgery. They wanted him to cancel a few dates on his tour while he healed but guess what? Gerald came to Philly, went out there on stage and gave every paying customer their money’s worth plus some, right down to his famous drop and roll across the stage. I know he was in pain because later that night after the show he was using his crutches. Gerald endured that pain to please his fans, how he felt didn’t matter to him. what mattered to him is he gave his fans what they wanted. Gerald lived and breathed music, great music, timeless music and deserved so much more than the music industry gave him.

 

Now on the flip side Gerald contributed so much to the music industry, he was not just a r &b singer he was a WRITER, PRODUCER and VOCALIST for many artist such as Barry White, the O’jays, Anita Baker, Patti Labelle, Rude Boys, Men at Large, and Stephanie Mills just to name a few. There are many people that don’t know the extent of Gerald’s talents (including you because it goes way beyond his solo career and his  “Levert days”) and that’s a sad, sad thing.  I can go on and on about the greatness of Gerald Levert but I think I’ve made my point.  

 

So come on, you are entitled to your opinion but let’s have some RESPECT for such a GREAT man the will be truly missed! There will NEVER be another Gerald Levert

Gerald Levert had something that most of the stars that happen by BET dont have and that is raw talent. Not only could he sang his but off but he was one heck of an entertainer. He deserved that award and numerous others, the music business is not fair never has been, Gerald understood this and so did a vast legion of his fans. One thing for certain there will never ever be another Gerald.
