Until you are put in the situation she is in and have to deal with everything that comes with the NBA, you can not judge her.  Living your life with an athlete is definitely no easy task and I give her so much respect for making it through with Doug.  Keep doing YOU Jackie (as you always do!) and I will keep looking to you as a role model (along with all of the other athletes' wives!)

Becoming the wife of an athlete is a ‘choice’ – and should have nothing to do with how a woman carries herself as ‘The Wife’ of said athlete.  That being said – Jackie’s behavior IN NO WAY brings respect and honor to this man as a public figure.  More importantly – she’s behaving “most basic” – and warrants no place among truly strong Black women who demonstrate character and class amid the everyday perils of having a man – whether athlete or garbage collector!

 

Besides – there’s a more important issue that everyone seems to overlook.  The time she spends watching him, following him, stalking him/the team on EVERY road trip, grilling him about who he spoke to, who tried to speak to him, did he make eye contact, etc. – this is time not spent being a positive and productive wife and mother!

I 've never watched the show and I've never heard of this NBA player.  Now behavior like that is a bit extreme. From reading what you described,I would have to wonder if she is his wife or his mother?? Asking him who he spoke to and who he made eye contact with, is over the top. At what oint do you back off and trust your man to do the right thing?

Nonetheless, I still agree with the original poster.  Until you live that celebrity lifestyle or simply being the wife of a celebrity, you can't really judge what you know nothing about. Even IF you know someone who is married to a celebrity, that's still their life, not YOUR life.

Being an athlete's wife I know isnt always an easy task and I wish them all the best of luck in their marriage. I dont think that Jackie is crazy but when she said something on Tyra's show about hiding pics of women in magazines that was a little crazy to me. She cant treat her husband like a child and Im wondering damn does he have a parental lock on his computer so that he cant look at anything thats not pg 13? Well if it works for them then its all good.

2 words to describe Jackie, "Ghetto Fabulous!" She displays a great deal of confidence in her ability to handle her Man, but she lacks the level of confidence that is needed to keep Doug's attention as his woman . There is definitely some insecurity issues between the two of them.  Jackie is so afraid of another woman stealing her man that she has become overbearing and paranoid, which makes her appear "crazy". She is definitely not crazy, she is simply protecting her interests, ie: her husband and family. If Doug allows her to wear the Pants, then that is what works for them. I only wish that Jackie would relax, and stop being so negative and mean towards others. I cannot count the number of times that she has called someone a "freakin idiot". She goes over the top a bit too easy. She needs to relax. I understand her need to protect her family, as females are scandalous. But no matter what she does, says, or where she may go, if Doug wants to cheat, he will find a way to cheat. God should be her everything, not Doug.

jbiggy, thanks for the comment, as U R entitled you ur own opinion. No, I do not want nor have I ever wanted Doug, as I am happily married to my own NBA Ball player. As for knowing them, UR so very wrong. We have crossed paths several times, and she is not a favorite amongst the NBA family. My comment again, is that I think that she should "relax". My Mother taught me many years ago, that people are going to do whatever they want to do, and if there is something that they want bad enough, they will find a way to make it happen. Jackie is doing what she feels is necssary to protect her family, and that is great if it works for them. You are right, AIDS is real, so cheating should be a "no no" as far as both parties are concerned. Hoochies are real, as I see how they are consistently after my Hubby, but he knows and respects what we have. If he choses to "step out", then that is his choice, and he will have to deal with the consequences of his actions.  I am his wife, not his keeper, and I would never spend all of my time following him around, It isn't necessary.
