Beloved former Vogue Editor André Leon Talley has reportedly died at 73. According to TMZ, he passed on Tuesday at a White Plains, New York hospital.

In a career that spanned over decades, Talley wrote at several publications. Still, American Vogue is where he made his mark serving as the magazine's news director, creative director, and editor-at-large, working closely with EIC Anna Wintour.

Known for his vast knowledge of fashion, the coveted trailblazer paved the way for Black designers and fashion editors today. For years, he was the only Black editor sitting on the front row of influential fashion week shows.

In 2008, Talley advised the Obama family on fashion, introducing Michelle Obama to the Taiwanese-Canadian designer Jason Wu, from whom she bought several dresses, including her inaugural gown. 

From March 2010 to December 2011, Talley served on the judging panel for America's Next Top Model. He has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Savannah College of Art and Design since 1995. He authored three books, including two memoirs. 

Talley is a triumphant icon. A fashion luminary, and an usher of possibility.
